ART SESSION 02
RYUICHI YAHAGI
07—2021

The artistic work of Ryuichi Yahagi has been important in the relationship between Japan and Mexico. For over 20 years, his creations have bridged both cultures, addressing themes such as migration, globalization, and gastronomy, using certain ingredients as a bridge in cultural mestizaje. In Xalapa, thanks to Fernán Aramburú's initiative, we met Ryuichi in a salon-style session by Lake Aguacero. His pieces evoke rose petals and certain fruits, contrasting with the juxtaposition of the materials used. We wanted to highlight these attributes with the help of food.
